@mister.wetzel. Zach Wetzel is an Arts Educator, Broadway World critic, and award-winning performer. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University's prestigious Vocal Performance program and was named Marriott Top Male Singer of the University. During the day Zach is the Music Program Director at BASIS Oro Valley. He has been featured on ABC for his work as an Arts Educator. Outside of teaching Zach has worked at Live Theatre Workshop, The Phoenix Theatre Company, Saguaro City Music Theatre, and beyond. Some of his favorite roles include: Sid in THE PAJAMA GAME, Nathan in GUYS AND DOLLS, The Cat in SEUSSICAL, Father in RAGTIME, Michael in TICK TICK BOOM, and Mr. Wormwood in MATILDA.
Wetzel’s Work Since 2019…
•Music directed fully-staged productions at The Berger Center from 2019-2024 for BASIS Tucson Primary.
•Managed the Music Program for BASIS Oro Valley, the #17 high school in the US (#2 in AZ) since 2024. Maintained a large voice/string studio at Instrumental Music since 2024.
•Music directed 100+ kids productions for many theaters including Live Theatre Workshop, Saguaro City Music Theatre, and The Phoenix Theatre Company. The Phoenix Theatre Company is the largest producing regional theatre company in the Valley.
•Directed the Arizona premiere of a new work, which was featured in Arizona publications and on ABC.
•Wrote dozens of articles for BroadwayWorld and provided exposure for theaters across the state.
Live Theatre Workshop Teaching Artist Bio: Zach Wetzel is the Music Program Director at BASIS Oro Valley. He has provided kids music direction for 100+ projects at many theaters including Live Theatre Workshop, Saguaro City Music Theatre, and The Phoenix Theatre Company. Favorite projects at The Phoenix Theatre Company include: DESCENDANTS, ZOMBIES, and WILLY WONKA (Kids MD). Notable performing credits: Mr. Wormwood (MATILDA) and The Cat (SEUSSICAL) with Saguaro City Music Theatre; Sid Sorokin (THE PAJAMA GAME), Nathan Detroit (GUYS AND DOLLS), and J Bruce Ismay (TITANIC: THE MUSICAL) with MTAA; Michael (TICK TICK BOOM) with Winding Road Theater; and Featured Soloist (TROUBADOUR CAFE) with The Phoenix Third Street Theatre. Zach holds a BM in vocal performance from Brigham Young University.
