This is a Piano+ Course, Piano + Voice + Instruments

Unit 1: Quiz on Theory and Composition

Rubric:

·   Approx 10 questions, worth 2 points each

·   Assessment is multiple choice/fill in the blank

Unit 3: FINAL PROJECT – Advanced Piano Composition

3 Final Quizzes: Compose an original piece

1st one: 50 points - 8 measures, advanced work, should include changing meters and key signatures, 2-part harmony

2nd one: 50 points - same as before, but 12 measures

3rd one: 50 points - same as before, but 25 measures

FINAL: Compose an original piece, 250 points: 40 measures, advanced harmony and part-writing, changing time signatures and meters. (YOU MAY WORK ON THIS BEFORE THE FINAL AND FINISH IN CLASS DAY OF THE FINAL)

PERFORMING ENSEMBLE NAME (for Showcases):

*Grades 8-9: CHAMBER MUSICIANS is one of our two Upper-Division Ensembles. This performing group (as well as its younger sibling KEYBOARD CHORALE) holds chair auditions for leadership performing roles. CHAMBER MUSICIANS is a piano/choral ensemble hybrid. We primarily focus on performing small piano/choral works, and frequently works that are a capella. Students will accompany vocalists and other instrumentalists for pieces that feature instrumentation.
